Vol. 2 Track 4 (April 2021)

This time of year is one of my favorite times of the year, the weather is nice – not too cold and it’s just before it gets too hot outside. One of the benefits of living in Texas is that the weather warms up earlier in the spring, so you get a longer period here of nice cool weather before the horrible heat of the summer.

Few things are better than getting in your car, rolling the windows down, and listening to your favorite songs as the wind blows through your hair. These car drives have a short shelf life – especially in Texas.

Hopefully, there are at least one or two songs on this playlist that you can add to your windows down, singing in your car rotation.

2021 marked the time where we’ve been without Kurt Cobain longer than when we had him. Earlier this month the FBI released their 10-page report dealing with his death and the letters that were written to them by heartbroken fans that believed that there was foul play involved.

I slept on the awesomeness of Phoebe Bridgers 2020 album when it came out last year, but I am making up for it this year. Here’s a cover she did of Wheatus’ “Teenage Dirtbag” – definitely improving on the song.

I’ve mentioned the emo revival/renaissance that we are going through now and there is a great scene coming out of Florida right now. Don’t miss out on Home is Where who was featured in a previous playlist – their album is on my still in progress best of the year list.

Bandcamp also threw together a list of eight great emo albums from the past few years. Most of the bands have been featured on past playlists.

A quick video that tries to answer the question of who invented heavy metal.

Kids performing 90s hard rock/heavy metal music? Sure. Here is Du Hast by Rammstein and Freedom by Rage Against the Machine.

Speaking of kids – these girls played at the LA Public Library and broke the Internet. You can watch the full concert by The Linda Lindas here.

Staying with The Linda Lindas for a moment, here is a video of them crushing Rebel Girl for Amy Poehler’s movie Moxie.

Here are some videos of a parrot singing his own lyrics to classic rock songs. Tico knows how to rock out.

Hi, I'm Mike. I'm from the Internet. I like rock and roll, soft pretzels, bourbon, and your mom.
