🎧 Downbeat.fm Vol. 5 Track 10
I don't have any stories to tell you about music or concerts this month.
All I have is a plea to go out and vote. Get your friends to vote. I know this is said every election, but this is the most important election of our lives. We need to put the nail in Trump and MAGA's coffin, put this dark period behind us, and move forward.
Here are some helpful links if you are unsure where to vote or what is on your ballot:
- Rock the Vote: https://www.rockthevote.org
- League of Women Voters: https://www.lwv.org
- USA.gov: https://www.usa.gov/how-to-vote
Fuck Trump. Fuck racists. Fuck Nazis. Fuck homophobes.
Please. Go vote.

I am not a Green Day fan. I think they are crap. However, when I was younger (and dumber), I liked the album "Dookie" a lot. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Dookie, they "deconstructed it" to be played on devices it was never intended to play on. Clever. I still hate Green Day.
Phil Lesh, the Grateful Dead Co-Founder and Bassist, is Dead at 84. I was never a Deadhead. The only songs I know by them are Casey Jones and Touch of Grey. However, their importance to rock and roll and American history is not lost on me.
Have you ever wanted to know about the history of "incorrect punctuation" in artist's names?
The recording console used by The Beatles to record Abbey Road was recently found, restored, and will be auctioned off.
NPR recently wrote an article about how emo is not only still around but thriving. I'll have to agree there.
From my friend Toni, who writes New-to-Me Phrases, is a link to a page where someone has set up a microphone in the Mission District in San Francisco, listening for music with Shazam at the ready. If it picks up a song, it adds it to the log. This is a very cool social playlist aggregation tool: Bop Spotter.
"Helen Mirren Says ‘It’s So Sad Kurt Cobain Died When He Did Because He Never Saw GPS’." Yeah, I don't know.
